“More than others Watercolor”
Created by Sophia Vida
This painting was created in Gina Lee Kim’s second online class called “The Versatility of Blue.” It’s offered through Cloth Paper Scissors and is so much fun to create.
Because this is part of Gina’s online class I don’t want to give away any of her techniques for creating this painting. But I will tell you how I created the paper for the sail boat because that was from my personal paper stash.
I created this sheet by collaging a 9″ x 12″ sheet of Strathmore Mixed Media paper with pages from a book, sheet music etc. Once this was dry I used my stencils and a few stamps with Staz on ink to add some imagery. I added color with watered down acrylic paints and gelatos and a few sketchy lines with the Sakura Micron Pen #02.
After everything had dried it looked a bit dull so I sprayed the sheet with Pearl Angel Mist which gave it a little shimmer. Since I only needed a small piece for the sail boat, I’m putting the rest back into my stash to use on another project later.
I’ve been creating pieces of mixed media papers for use in projects instead of buying more printed cardstock. I like how it adds that extra creative punch to projects. Plus it’s just a blast making these different sheets because there are no rules except to have fun.
I highly recommend Gina Lee Kim’s online courses. They are lots of fun and there are 4 courses in total: The Power of Red, The Versatility of Blue, The Serenity of Green and The Energy of Yellow. I will be moving on to The Serenity of Green next, so stay tuned.
