– Sakura Gelly Roll Pens
Sakura Jelly Roll thCAPTC15Q

– Strathmore 400 Series, Watercolor Cold Press 140 lb Paper, 6″ x 12″
– Niji Waterbrush – Medium

NijiWaterbrush

– Stardust Stickles
– Paper towels

It’s always a challenge to create art in this journal because of the unusual long rectangular size. I took my journal and basic supplies to the beach. I sat under a nice shaded umbrella and stared at the blank canvas while listening to the waves, gently roll up on shore. There was a breeze going which was really nice on such a hot day.

I love birds and thought it would be fun to create a whimsical sketch with these little guys. I sketched in my design and colored it with the Kimberly Watercolor Pencils. I used the Niji Waterbrush to activate the colors.

Since it was a scorcher of a day, I laid my wet painting in the sun for a few minutes. Once it was dry, I outlined it with the Sakura Micron Pen #03. When I got back home I added a few highlights with my Sakura Gelly Roll pens, Star Dust Stickles and Voila! I had a new sketch in my journal that makes me giggle. Hope it makes you giggle too 🙂

Enjoy!

    • Thanks Mindy!! Watercolor is still my favorite. I seem to do more watercolor in summer, I guess because it’s easy to bring along my supply stash anywhere I go. Enjoy!! ~Sophia

    • Thank you, I’m glad you liked it!! Your comments are so true. Going against what the majority think can be very scary but that should never stop us from following and believing in our dreams. All the best ~Sophia
